The Medical Panel

The Medical Panel is a panel of three experienced medical specialists appointed by the Commissioner. The Commissioner is responsible for keeping a list of medical practitioners to perform the duties of the Medical Panel.

The Medical Panel reviews information about your case to decide:

  • whether you have an asbestos-related disease;
  • what kind of asbestos-related disease;
  • whether the disease is imminently or non-imminently fatal;
  • the degree of impairment, in the case of non-imminently fatal asbestos-related diseases;
  • whether exposure to asbestos in the workplace contributed to your disease; and
  • the degree of incapacity in the case of non-imminently fatal asbestos-related diseases where the person is working or has recently worked.

Medical panel guidance and forms

The forms are interactive so you can type the information into the fields and print it using the Print Form button and/or save it using the 'save as' option. The print button is on the last page of each document.
